This family reminded me so much of my own. They have 2 little boys around the same age as my own boys, and are expecting a third (surprise gender!) little one next month.

The kids had high energy during this session and definitely kept me on my toes, but I loved every minute of it. B family, thank you for choosing me to capture this special time in your life. I can’t wait to meet your new little one next month!

I am part of a group of fabulous photographers from around the country who have embarked on a little photo adventure together. Each month we will post based on a theme and photograph based on our interpretation of that theme. Sounds fun, right?! So the first month’s theme is Discovery. I will admit this month snuck up on me and I did not get to shoot the vision I had for discovery. The photo below is a few months old, but I knew it would be perfect for this month’s theme. I remember this little guy’s mama was telling me this was his first time sitting in grass. How cool was it for me to be there, capturing him “discovering” grass?

This little one did not get to me until she was almost 3 weeks old. While it took a bit longer to get her to sleep, she did give some amazing eye contact! She also had the most gorgeous head of hair! Mom and dad are in trouble when this little lady grows up

I get e-mails often from other photographers asking how I achieve certain poses on my website. I am not above sharing what I know with others in order to educate them on newborn safety. Not all newborns will do every pose requested from the parents and I explain this to them before our session. The pose below is requested often, so I thought I would show all of you how to achieve it safely. It is actually a composite, which is multiple images merged together in Photoshop. By doing a composite, I can make sure the baby is safe the entire time and do the work in Photoshop to give the illusion that the baby is suspended in the air. There were two assistants helping me in this shot, and a hand was on the baby the entire time.

I had so much fun photographing this little guy last month. He made so many cute faces when he was awake and had the best eye contact!

I had so much fun with this little guy. I’ve had a string of good sleepers lately and he was no exception! I absolutely love red heads, and it looks like this little guy’s gorgeous locks might stick around! He also had the chubbiest cheeks, which could be because he was almost 2 weeks late! (poor mom!) Anyways, here are a few images I was able to capture while he was 7 days old.
